STEM Fair 2023

Our students have had the opportunity to design and carry out a science experiment over the past few weeks. Today students brought their completed display boards to school to present their projects to judges during the school day.

All participants and their parents are invited to come to the STEM Fair Night tonight, Friday at 6:00 p.m. Awards will be presented at 6:30.

Chess Club has started!

Apple Valley's annual chess club started this week and the first day was a big success! Students from Kindergarten to 5th grade signed up for the opportunity to learn and play chess on Tues mornings from Feb 7 - April 25.

February Happenings at Apple Valley

2/7/23, Tuesday : Chess Club Begins. Chess Club will be from 8-8:45 a.m. every Tuesday morning until April 25. Students will enter the school through the front doors. For the first session, all students will meet in the gym to be assigned to classrooms.

2/8/23, Wednesday: Last day of Robotics Club.

2/7/23-2/13/23: Friendship Week. Students can write kind notes to one friend each morning in the foyer of the school. Doors open at 8:50 a.m.

Fantastic First Grade Readers!

Our first grade students have the opportunity to earn a free book by completely filling in their take home reading log. Today three students in Mrs Tucker's class all finished and got to choose a book! Great job Cheznee B., Madi J., and Carter B. Keep reading!

This class will go over parenting tips specific for parents of children with disabilities, including:

Grief with a new diagnosis or challenge
Dealing with crisis
Parenting Techniques that work
Advocating for your child
Controlling your level of stress
Dealing with unwanted advice
Having laughter and hope in the journey

Discovery Gateway Museum visits Kindergarten

A presenter from the Discovery Gateway Museum came to our school last week to teach kindergartners about Forces and Motion. Kindergarten students learned about push and pull and then played tug-o-war and a hovercraft as they explored the forces of push and pull.
