Dear Apple Valley Parents and Guardians,

It's hard to believe it's already August. We hope you have had a fantastic summer break with your families. Here are some things to know as we prepare to return to school.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Find out class/teacher placements: August 5. Login to your iCampus parent portal to see your students' teachers for grades 1-5. If you can not see your students' teachers, you have not yet completed their registration. Please login to your parent portal and complete the registration.

  • First Day of Kindergarten: August 24.

SCHOOL LUNCH

School lunch is no longer free for all students. We encourage all families to apply for free and reduced lunch. You may access an application by going to your Infinite Campus Menu, then scrolling down to More and clicking on Meal Benefits. Any application signed before July 12th does not pertain to the 2022-23 school year. As a reminder, households must apply every year to confirm eligibility for free or reduced-price meals.

If you do not qualify for free or reduced-price meals, the cost for elementary will be:

$1.50 Breakfast

$2.00 Lunch

To pay for school lunch, your student can bring cash or check to the lunchroom OR you can pay with a card online through your iCampus parent portal under Food Services. Our school does not accept card payments in the office.

KINDERGARTEN CLASS PLACEMENT

On August 5th, you will be able to see your students' teacher in the iCampus Parent Portal. All Kindergarten students will show Mrs. Miller PM as their Kindergarten teacher. *****THIS INFORMATION IS NOT CORRECT****. Class placement for Kindergarten students will not be completed until after KEEP Assessments on August 17. Then you will be contacted by August 19 with your Kindergartener's class placement. To sign up for the KEEP Assessment, please go to the Apple Valley website.

SCHOOL SAFETY

Please attend the Meet the Teacher events to help your student become familiar with navigating to their new classroom in the school. On the first day of school, parents will not be permitted beyond the foyer of the school. If you are concerned with your student finding their classroom that morning, school staff will be happy to walk them to class.

This will also be the case with Kindergarten students. Parents will not be allowed past the foyer to walk students to their classrooms. Kindergarten students can be dropped off near the Kindergarten doors each day where teachers will wait for them. If the student is late, please have them enter through the front doors of the school.

Throughout the school year, we will continue to foster school safety by requiring anyone who enters the building to check in at the office. Additionally, school staff rather than family members will make any deliveries to students.

DROP OFF TIMES

Students are welcome to be dropped off at the school at 8:30 a.m. They will walk around the back of the school and enter through the east doors near the cafeteria where breakfast is served. The front doors of the school will be opened at 8:45 each morning, and students can wait in the glass foyer until 8:50 when the first bell rings and students are able to go to their classrooms.
