Dear Parents/Guardians:

As you may have heard, Governor Herbert and State Superintendent Sydnee Dickson have extended the “soft school closure” until the end of the school year.  Although we are disappointed that we will not be able to work with students in our usual manner, we understand why the decision was made and fully support them.  That being said, we now will need to address a variety of very unique situations.

Our hearts go out to the Senior Class of 2020.  The senior year is a very important part of the K-12 school experience.  Please know that we are exploring ways that we can address issues specific to 12th grade students such as graduation, yearbook signing, grading, credit, etc.   Any suggestions or ideas from parents and students should be sent to their school administration.  You will be receiving more detailed information regarding those events as details are finalized.

There have been questions asked about possible changes to the lunches being served and the current school year calendar.  Please be aware that we will follow the 2019-2020 school year calendar as posted.  The last day of school will be May 22.  Lunches will continue to be served at locations throughout the district.

The goal of Nebo School District and local schools is to continue to provide your student with a quality education through an online curriculum.  Teachers will continue to provide online learning experiences and will be communicating through email or other online platforms throughout the remainder of the school year.  Although these learning conditions are not ideal, we are extremely appreciative of the efforts made by teachers, parents, and students to adjust to this temporary method of instruction.

If you or your student are experiencing difficulties adapting to online learning or are in need of assistance, please reach out to your student’s teacher, counselor, or principal.  There are many resources available for those in need.

Nebo School District and your local schools will continue to communicate with you as we find solutions to the variety of challenges that are being sent our way.  We would like to thank you for your patience and support as we continue to navigate this challenging situation.  We truly believe that by working together, we will be able to successfully complete this school year.

Sincerely,

Scott Wilson

Assistant Superintendent
